Today, we don’t just celebrate freedom.
We remember what freedom cost.
We reclaim the protection they carried.
And we rise as the living continuation of their brilliance.
On this Juneteenth, I offer a prayer from the porch of my people.
A blessing wrapped in blue bottles, buried in breath, and carried on the wind of our matriarchs.
🌀 The blue bottles of the Gullah Geechee remind us:
Even in silence, we set traps for harm.
Even in shadows, we make light sing.
🔥 Ancestor money burns not just to honor, but to fund the future they dreamed from underground railways and river crossings.
👣 Harriet’s face on my altar note says,
“I opened the roads with my feet. You open them now with your voice.”
👻 The Road Opener Egungun speaks in wind and scent:
“Not all ghosts haunt. Some clear paths. Some carry keys.”
